Welcome, Freshthings! Session 2

|

Two months later, we had our second session of my GURPS IOU campaign. Steve (and therefore his character, Gwen) wasn't with us, so our cast was:

  • Eddie Hitler, time-displaced space marine
  • James St. John, action hero
  • Deva Dormette, Neverland faerie
  • Dennis Smallman, teleporting (someday) computer programmer
We picked up with the group heading to the library to meet their campus tour guide. Said guide turned out to be a mysterious ninja. The tour was relatively uneventful, aside from the vampire squirrel that attacked Dennis and James when they wandered off to investigate a side passage in the Library-Museum cross-campus tunnel.

The tour ended outside the Avant Gardens, where the ninja guide disappeared in a puff of smoke. The group was soon set upon by several members of the Team, including the swirly victim from the food fight the day before. This time, the jocks brought bats, and the fight was on. James shot and killed one jock and subdued another with Dennis' help, while Eddie drove off the remaining four pretty much by himself.

Eddie discovered that primitive weapons can hurt him (a little), while the fight ended with James unconscious from multiple bat strikes (on top of his squirrel bites from earlier). Luckily, Gwen came back with several healing potions she'd purchased at the Orientation Carnival that was going on nearby.

After reporting the attack and seeing their fallen enemies sent to the Lazarus Health Center, the group decided to continue to the Carnival to try and have a good time. And they did. James won third place in the target shooting contest, receiving a $25 gift certificate to the campus bookstore. Dennis won the trivia contest and a cool hat. Deva won a stuffed unicorn that is as big as she is. And everyone had their fortunes told by a gypsy. Looks like the gang should be on the lookout for Poultroons.

After the fortune-telling, it was late, and after one last go through the bouncy castle, the group headed back to Monty Hall to rest and tend their various wounds.
